The Chris Gryllis Real Estate Story
Servicing Orange since 1974
The Gryllis Family have been part of the fabric of the Orange business community since arriving in Australian from Patmos, Greece, in 1962.
Chris started out working with his family in Summer Street in their food business. In 1974, he entered the real estate industry in the same Summer Street precinct with Bob Moneghetti Real Estate on the corner of Summer and Peisley Streets.
“I realised that working in real estate was what I wanted to do with my life and within three years I started my own agency with the assistance of my wife Mosha,” Chris outlined.
His record-breaking stint in business in Summer Street lasted 58 years, before the office was relocated to 74 McNamara Street in March 2020.
A bright future for real estate in Orange
Now operating out of a spacious modern office overlooking Robinson Park, Chris says the real estate industry and the Orange Region have come a long way from the times when business was carried out via a handshake.
“Technology has changed the industry enormously from a wax seal to electronic transfers,” Chris explained.
“Orange has always been the business and agricultural centre for the Central West of NSW, even in the 1960’s when the population was much smaller. Now in addition, the region has become a huge health, mining, wine producing, and tourist centre.
“With my long-term knowledge of the district, I am very confident that Orange’s future will be assured for many years to come as one of the most prosperous regional cities in Australia.”
A business built on solid relationships & sincerity
Maintaining solid relationships and sincerity in business are the attributes Chris says have ensured his ongoing success in real estate.
“To me, success is all about building trustworthy relationships with customers and clients over the many years – we treat all our dealings as if the properties were our own,” he outlined.
“One of the reasons that we have stayed in business for so long is that we have a personal ‘hands-on’ approach.
“People look to us first because of our extensive experience and knowledge of our local culture. We are always able to provide the best possible recommendations in all real estate aspects.”
Personally invested in the community
Over the years Chris has not only invested in business, but also in the future prosperity of the region. He has a holistic belief in supporting the development of the entire community.
Chris racked up 27 years as an Orange City Councillor including serving as Deputy Mayor. He was involved in key developments including the development of Gosling Creek, the expansion of the airport, the Northern Distributor Road, the Macquarie River Pipeline, Orange’s new Health Service, and ‘Sister City’ projects in Mt Hagen, Papua New Guinea.
He has also championed many other committees and charity organisations including being part of the Rotary Club of Orange since 1971, captaining the city to two Tidy Towns NSW wins, and raising large amounts of money chairing the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.
